Solardome® Glasshouses Innovation Award Finalists
Solardome Industries, based in Southampton, was delighted to be amongst the Innovation Award finalists at the prestigious Education Resources Awards (ERA) 2013.
Judged as being one of the top six companies in the innovation award category, this is fantastic recognition of the unique benefits a Solardome® glasshouse delivers – they fuse innovation, design and creativity with the functionality to create a safe, warm and dry indoors-yet-outdoors environment to enrich the whole curriculum.
Solardome Industries were the only non IT related company shortlisted in this category and beat off almost 250 other companies to reach the top six. This impressive achievement acknowledges the work that Solardome does to support schools to deliver a creative and inspired outdoor learning environment.
The ERA awards, which are in their 15th year, are organised by the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) and Brilliant Marketing Solutions Ltd. The ERAs highlight the quality and diversity of educational products and resources, excellent educational establishments and the most inspiring members of the teaching profession, all working together to encourage the very best in education.
Solardome Industries has helped over 60 UK educational establishments – ranging from early years to universities – to provide young people with a hub to experience new, diverse and stimulating ways of learning without leaving the school grounds.
Three Solardome® glasshouses are at the heart of Wellacre Academy’s ecology centre and helped them clinch the prestigious International Green Apple award for the Built Environment in 2011.
Stacey Partridge, the Academy’s Business and Enterprise Leader says: ‘This is a new way of learning: cooperative and personalised, not straight academic. Our domes bring Business Studies alive. They’re a fantastic facility, creating an environment which develops life skills outside the classroom.’
Pippa Bailey, Managing Director of Solardome Industries comments: ‘This is a fantastic achievement for Solardome and recognition of the unique benefits these spaces can bring. We have been delighted to be able to work alongside schools to help enrich the learning and experience of their pupils.’
