Hand-Picked To Host ‘Flower Domes’ Market At Grand Designs
Solardome Industries was hand-picked to host the ‘Flower Domes’ market at the UK’s premier design exhibition, Grand Designs
Marketed as ‘an ideas event on a much Grander scale’ and based on the popular Channel 4 series, Grand Designs Live is the UK’s number one annual consumer show for anyone who has an interest in design. The 2008 show, held between 3 and 11 May at Excel in London’s Docklands, was the biggest and best yet, hosting over 43,000 visitors and 450 exhibitors in six themed areas.
The event was organized by Media 10 Limited, an award-winning publishing and events company based on the outskirts of London.
After carrying out extensive research on innovative design companies, Media 10 approached Solardome® glasshouse to provide four striking Solardome® geodesic domes to house a spectacular ‘Flower Domes’ market in a 252 sqm section of the Grand Gardens Hall.
Visitors were able to experience the hustle and bustle of the market in the purpose-built biospheres, where they could buy anything from household favourites to exotic specialities.
Solardome® glasshouse provided three 2B domes each measuring 15’ (4.52m) and one 3B dome measuring 20’ (6.11m) for the duration of the event.
Managing Director, Pippa Bailey, commented: “This exhibition provided us with a unique opportunity to showcase the versatility of our domes. As well as providing the perfecting environment to create your own mini-Eden, a Solardome® glasshouse can also be used as spa covers, conservatories and University research units. Because they are safe, eco-friendly, long-lasting and require virtually no maintenance, they are particularly useful as a unique, outdoor learning environment for schools.“
