Alfreton Nursery School
Eco nursery adds to outdoor learning experience.
Forest School and Eco-School green flag winner, Alfreton Nursery School in Derbyshire, has added to its already impressive array of outdoor learning experiences by installing a SOLARDOME® Haven.
Teachers chose the striking design over other options like gazebos and marquees because they were impressed by its durability, longevity and versatility. But that’s not all…
The 4.52 metre diameter SOLARDOME® Haven was the standout candidate because of its ability to give the children a tangible outdoor experience whilst remaining fully protected from the elements.
As a result, learners benefit from outdoor learning all year round.
The school
Alfreton Nursery School is committed to giving their early years learners an outstanding programme of outdoor learning, stimulating them through a range of multi-sensory experiences.
As a leading light in outdoor learning it is probably no surprise that Alfreton is the first nursery school in the country to adopt one of our advanced glasshouses.
After all, learning outside the traditional classroom space as part of a creative curriculum is now increasingly recognised as fundamental for a child’s all round development.
For this reason among others the school was rated as outstanding in its latest OFSTED report.
In their own words
Head Teacher Angela Stanton said:
“Our Solardome glasshouse has created an instant ‘wow’ factor amongst the children, parents, staff and visitors.
“It provides everything we need in one space and also represents our commitment to being a ‘green’ school.” She added.
